It is hard times for Air Zimbabwe as the pilot strikes still continues and has entered the second week. The airline has spent much on its improvement of its fleet lately and the number of its weekly flights to London Gatwick increased. This has caused the carrier another financial blow.
The shortage of finances with the airline is delaying the arrears payment process to the pilots further. It is one of the important factors for the strike to end and the pilots are not going to end the strike on just the promises made. As stated in the earlier reports the pilots went on strike in early September as well and were not paid fully the unpaid sums that lead to their ongoing second strike against Air Zimbabwe Management.
The ones who are getting affected most are the passengers stuck in UK and Zimbabwe. Recommencement of the full or half international schedule of Air Zimbabwe is still not confirmed but it temporarily resumed its services from Harare and Johannesburg.
The refunds of the cancelled flight tickets are being processed as the flights from London Gatwick are not operational with Air Zimbabwe. The carrier has requested its passengers who are affected due to the cancelled flights to stay patient and calm.
The airline is receiving financial losses and its reputation is at stake as the flights to Harare for this week have been cancelled as well and others are delayed until and unless the issue is resolved. Before leaving for the airport the Air Zimbabwe passengers are requested to contact the airline for further assistance regarding their schedules.
