Qatar Airways has announced cancellation of its flights to and from London Gatwick (LGW) effective from 1st June 2011. Qatar Airways, in its policy in re-protection of passengers already ticketed on or before 28th FEB 2011.
The airline called ‘World’s 5-star airline’ operates an extensive network of flights to and from London to various International destinations. Its more prominently selling routes include flights to Nairobi, Lusaka, Accra, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Maldives and Seychelles.
Qatar stated in its official announcement that it will no longer operate services from London Gatwick Airport with effect from 1st June 2011. The airline has offered a number of options for affected customers such as;

For customers due to travel between London Gatwick (LGW) to Doha or vice versa on or after 1st June 2011 for all tickets issued on or before 28th February 2011, all Passengers holding reservations on an outbound or inbound London Gatwick (LGW) flights will be automatically rebooked onto Heathrow (LHR) flights once the cancellation has been actioned in the system.

For customers holding confirmed reservations and who have purchased their ticket on or prior to 28th February 2011 the following choices are available:

Rebook onto an earlier QR flight departing on or before 31st May 2011 outbound or inbound to or from London Gatwick (LGW) without penalty. Rebooking should be made within the same booking class as originally ticketed or where this is not available then the lowest booking class in the same class of cabin. Rebooking under this condition should be made within 30 days of the schedule change notification. All other expenses will remain the responsibility of the passenger and will not be absorbed by Qatar Airways. Tickets should be reissued prior to travel with the endorsement “INVOL RRT DUE FX LGWDOH”.

Rebook onto another QR flight outbound or inbound to London Heathrow (LHR) without penalty. The new travel date must be within 14 days of the original ticketed date of travel. Rebooking should be the same booking class as originally ticketed. Rebooking under this condition should be made within 30 days of the schedule change notification. All other expenses will remain the responsibility of the passenger and will not be absorbed by Qatar Airways. Where the original booking class is not available, rebook in the next available class, collecting the fare difference. Tickets should be reissued prior to travel with the endorsement “INVOL RRT DUE FX LGWDOH”

Obtain a refund in the form of a non refundable VMPD valid for further transportation only or full refund to original form of payment. Refund applications must be submitted through BSP link and not processed through GDS.

Rebook to or from any other Qatar Airways destination. The fare should be recalculated and the difference in fare collected from the passenger. Where the new fare is lower, the difference should be claimed for refund via BSP link. Rebooking under this condition should be made within 30 days of the schedule change notification.
