The UAE based airline Qatar Airways (QR) has announced a weekend surcharge implementation last week. The carrier states the reason in its official notification that this action is being taken ‘as part of Qatar Airways strategy to maintain competitive positioning’.
The airline further stated that it be implementing a weekend surcharge of “GBP 30.00” for its flight fares contract “LONR044” which indicates departures from London, UK. The weekend surcharge is on affect when traveling on Friday or Saturday during the week. The new Weekend Surcharge by Qatar Airways is applicable for any tickets issued on or after March 24 2011 and for the travel period starting on or after 1st July 2011 for outbound departures on Friday or Saturday travel. This surcharge will be on top of the adult fares and with Child and Infant fares discounted Child 75%, Infant 20% accordingly.
The airline instructs all agencies holding reservation to ensure that all tickets are issued on or before the 23rd of March to avoid any additional fare increases.
