Today, South African Airways has released its latest update on SAA Fuel Surcharge Increase that will be in effect from 01 February 2011.
The carrier stated in its update number 143 that this move is carried out in response to the continued increase in fuel prices. Here please note that the high-Octane fuel used in aero planes has been going up in the last few years, whereas regular fuel has been fluctuating between high and low prices. Induced by the fuel price hikes, the airline will be increasing its YR tax for tickets issued on or after the given date February 01, 2011.
South African airways (SA) is a prominent African carrier that offers direct flights to Johannesburg from London, as well as direct flights to Cape Town. The carrier is also a great source of high standard services and quality flights for those looking forward to fly to Southern, Eastern and Central Africa from Europe such as flights to Nairobi, Lusaka, Abidjan, Accra, Bulawayo, Lagos and Harare (via Johannesburg O R Tambo International Airport). The YR tax hike is going to affect all flights equally.
The South Africa flagship carrier further stated that bookings made on or before 24 January 2011 can be ticketed at the existing surcharge level until Monday 31 January 2011. All existing and new bookings ticketed on or after 01 February 2011 must apply the new fuel surcharge.
Also, for Individual Inclusive tour reservations, the airline specifies that new fuel surcharge is effective for all new bookings made on or after 25 January 2011. Whereas, for existing Inclusive Tour (IT) bookings the YR tax at the time of booking is applicable.
